Message: As a 25-year performing guitarist who actually started on trumpet when I was young, I have had an opportunity to study many players and learn from many sources. In my teaching experiences, I have always urged students to learn to read music and understand music theory, particularly since the guitar is a chordal instrument. After all, if one is serious about learning music, he or she should be willing to learn as much as they can about it. It's a pleasure to see a sight on the Web that teaches aspiring guitarists from a theoretical viewpoint. Keep up the good work!

However few ever provide much of the big picture, and many try shortcuts that make you dependent on gimmicks that dont fill in the gaps. Message: Very well written and cmprehensive. I look forward to reading and practicing with it in the future. I am still a novice player. I take lessons with a private teacher once a week as a hobby. I am pretty bad. I have no musical talent to speak of but I enjoy it a lot.

Message: Hey i couldn't help but to make this coment that all looks good here but as a teacher for 20 years I have found that the right hand picking accuracy with minimal movement is the biggest problem. Please concentrate in the future "How To Play fast for dummies" concentrating on technique on build up the ability to pick accuratly in sinc with left and the importance of strength in the hands. really disecting this often ignored topic that is a vastly open subject. Also using toll like a metronome, a sequencer that repeats licks or scales. I know several students that shake because they are nervous how to relax how to but confidence you will get a tremendous responce if you build others confidence FIRST. Then this Web site will get many more hits and grow to proportions you probably never dreamed. SORRY for babbleing on but I really care about guitar Players and any help I can give you is there for the giving. --------------------------------------------------

I'm a self- taught player but know what I'm doing when playing. Me and three of my friends are thinking about starting a band. I'm LEAD GUITAR and DAMN PROUD OF IT!! We have lead, rhythm, bass, and drums. If you have any more advice on "The first gig" please e-mail your suggestions to me at: qsecofr@bellsouth.net ANY advise on our performance would be greatly appreciated.

Message: Thanks so much for the great pages, they really helped, how about collaborating with a 13-18 year old who doesn't play at all, and getting the guidlines for beginners in a language that the majority of beginners understand, most learners have no clue what an experienced player is talking about, ask yourself, "I know what I'm talking about, but would i if i was that kid down the street?" --------------------------------------------------
